Antique furniture

English furniture from the 17th century to the Edwardian period, from formal mahogany to country oak. Every piece genuine and sold in honest condition.

What we usually carry

Tables

Dining, side, console, Pembroke and tripod tables. Georgian mahogany and oak alongside Victorian and Edwardian pieces, chosen for good proportions and original patina.

Desks

Pedestal desks, writing tables, bureaux and davenports. We look for desks that still work as desks: sound tops, working locks, solid construction.

Sideboards

Georgian and Victorian sideboards and serving tables in mahogany, oak and rosewood, with original handles and fittings where possible.

Bureau bookcases

From the early 18th century to the Victorian period. A good Georgian example in walnut or mahogany is increasingly hard to find.

Chairs

Sets and pairs of dining chairs, carvers and occasional seating, from ladder-backs to Chippendale and Hepplewhite styles. Sets of six or more are always worth asking about.

Chests of drawers

Bachelor chests to chest-on-chests in mahogany, walnut and oak, with country pieces in pine and elm.

Bookcases

Open, glazed and revolving bookcases and library shelving that suit period and modern rooms.

Dressers

Welsh, kitchen and country dressers in oak, elm and fruitwood, ideally with original racks and good colour.

Country furniture

Coffers, mule chests, cricket tables, settles and stick-back chairs in oak, elm, ash and fruitwood. Pieces made by local craftsmen and shaped by long use.

Buying with confidence

We describe every piece honestly, including any old repairs or replaced parts. If something has been restored, we’ll tell you what was done.

If a piece you buy needs attention, our restoration workshop can help.
